Last weekend saw the NAC hold the Leinster Open Championships, 14 New Ross swimmers were in attendance.   The competition was tough.  The weekend proving a great learning opportunity for all, particularity the J1s who are working well and developing their competition skills.   Also for the more experienced swimmers, who see event after event the improving performance of the province and national competitors.

As always the squad put their best stroke forward and undertook between them 97 swims.  Of these, 49 were personal best swims - no mean feat at this level where PBs get harder and harder.

Our New Ross Swimmers took 16 top 10 places and made 22 finals. Denis Kilbride and Jack Nolan Whitney gained bronze in four events between them.  The boys relays consisting of  Cian Foley,  Jack Coode, Jack Nolan Whitney, Denis Kilbride and Stuart Vaughan also earned a bronze placing. With the girls of Deirbhille Cruise, Caoimhe Daly, Min Allen and Sadhbh Bailey taking a 5th and a 6th placing.

A great meet for all concerned and not possible without the dedicated coaching of Fran Ronan and Steve Cruise.

A word of thanks to Emir Kelly our Gala Secretary  also for ensuring our entry for all the meets of the season are in order. Paul Allen for assisting with the coaching, Pat and
Yvonne Daly for their roles as meet direct and meet coordinator. Last but not least to all the parents who carried out duties over the weekend, and gave great support to all the swimmers.

The club also debuted  new and very stylish swimming hats, with the coaches commenting on how much easier it is to identify the swimmers in the pool with the distinctive new 'over the top' stripe.

Next Up is the Irish Minor Schools Championship on the 12th of February in the NAC. Followed by the Round Robin Final to be held in the Apex (25th of March).  All hands on deck to support team New Ross :)
