Leinster Division II sucess

Seven swimmers from New Ross Swimming Club attended the Leinster Division II Gala in the NAC last weekend, securing two gold, four silver and three bronze podiums placings.  Individual results were as follows;

Erin Flanagan notched up a Silver in both the  (200) Backstroke and (100) Butterfly, While Ciara Brennan also gained a bronze  in the (200)  Free style and a Silver for the (200) Individual Medley.

Cillian Foley gained gold in the 400 Free and 200 IM, a silver in the 200 Free and a bronze in the 100 Free, securing two Leinster Division 1 along the way! His brother Tiernan was placed third in the 100 Fly gaining a bronze.

Cael Colfer, Nicole Colfer and Ciara Bethel also gained personal best times during the event.

The next outing for the squad will be Leinster Division I at the end of the month, the precursor to the national division I and Division II events in July.

Over the same weekend, the club were involved in the SWIM A Mile event, hosted by the Apex.  Swim Ireland’s Swim  A Mile is an initiative aiming to encourage people to get back into the pool and become confident life-long swimmers.

The club is also in the throes of organising a 5 K walk, 30K cycle or 90K cycle in early June to help finance the squads training.
